Dowdle puzzles are one of our favorites! All of the images are designed by Eric Dowdle and his style is very unique. The bright colors, fluffy clouds, and attention to detail are what make these puzzles so special. To learn more about Dowdle puzzles, check out next week’s brand breakdown post!
On the West Coast, a famous destination is the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California. In Dowdle’s Golden Gate Bridge you can see families enjoying flying kites at Crissy Field Park which is located on the north end of the bridge. Did you know that the Golden Gate Bridge weighs 840 million pounds? That is heavier than the Empire State Building!
Speaking of the Empire State building - New York is a popular state to visit on the East Coast. In Dowdle’s Best of New York you can see images from some of his other puzzles based in New York. If you look closely, you may see one that you have already completed! In the center of the puzzle is a map that depicts cities and fun destinations throughout the whole state.
The Alamo is in the heart of San Antonio, Texas. Dowdle painted historical figures in front of the fortress that was under attack in the infamous battle in 1836. You can see a more modern building in the background - Crockett Hotel. It is named after Davy Crockett who helped lead the battle at The Alamo.
Grand Teton is a national park located in Wyoming. In this puzzle you can see the wide open land and mountain range that make up this national park. You can see people in Grand Teton camping, boating, and enjoying the outdoors!
The Black Hills is a mountain range in South Dakota and home to Mount Rushmore. Dowdle paints the landscape and popular tourist attractions in the Black Hills including Mount Rushmore, Borglum Historical Center, and the 1880 Train.
These three destinations are less familiar to me but maybe you have heard of them or even been there!
Prince Edward Island is a small island in Canada located just north of Nova Scotia. They are known for their beaches, farm land, and Green Gables Heritage Place.You can find all of these attractions in the Prince Edward Island Puzzle.
Solvang is a city in California and it is known for its Danish-style architecture. In the puzzle you can see three of the four windmills that decorate the town. Alongside the windmills are authentic Danish bakeries - yum!
Ketchikan is a city in Alaska and has the world’s largest collection of totem poles and you can see a couple of them painted in the puzzle. The puzzle shows all of the beautiful landscape and wildlife that make the city a great place to visit. Ketchikan is also the Salmon capital of the world. Can you find all 28 salmon that Dowdle hid in this puzzle?
