New Puzzles from Eurographics, New York Puzzle Company and Peter Pauper Press

Happy new puzzle day! New puzzle day is the best day in our calendar.

You’ll be glad to know that we have five new puzzles joining our catalog today. We decided to focus on expanding our collection of fine art puzzles in the Completing the Puzzle catalog! If fine arts is one of your favorite themes, this week’s new puzzles are perfect for you!

Summer Escapes

Summer Escapes from New York Puzzle Company is our first new art puzzle to introduce to you. This is a 500 piece puzzle for all our puzzlers who love completing puzzles full of bright colors, interesting forms, and unique shapes! The unconventional nature scene shown on this puzzle reminds me of other surrealist artwork, but I love artist Lorenzo Mattotti’s modern abstract take on naturalistic illustrations.

I see a waterfall leading back around a mountain and a palm tree-esque plant, but I can’t make out much more. That’s the beauty of some art; you get to decide what you see in the image and enjoy the viewing experience. Puzzling complex fine art like this is so fun because you actually get to construct the final image yourself, and everyone will probably notice different parts of the picture throughout their individual puzzle processes!

Folly Bay

The second new puzzle you can find in our catalog is the 1000-piece Folly Bay puzzle, also by New York Puzzle Company! This puzzle will be perfect for you if you love whimsical puzzle images with muted colors and interesting settings. Folly Bay was painted by Janet Hill, and she shows us the moments right before a bad storm at a beautiful beach house. There is a quiet stillness to this puzzle and I love it.

The red house towers above them as they relax and you can see some animals at the front of the house in the sand with a whale coming out of the bright blue water behind everything. There’s a lot more going on in this picture than you would originally think, which makes me want to complete this puzzle even more! Go add it to your wishlist!

VW Funky Jam

These new puzzles were picked with our expert puzzlers in mind—so here’s another 1000 piece puzzle that we’re sure will give you a fun challenge! This is VW Funky Jam from Eurographics Puzzles. I love collage puzzles like this one, but I’d be a little concerned about sorting these pieces since all the VW Buses are similar in color around the windows and bumpers. A lot of overlapping buses too, so it might be challenging to figure out where one bus ends and another begins.

Despite these difficult parts, I’d be so excited to receive this puzzle as part of my Completing the Puzzle subscription since the VW Bus is such an iconic and somewhat artistic vehicle! My favorite bus in this puzzle has to be the one in the top right corner with the daisy on the front, but all of them are so cute! Peace out puzzlers, and enjoy your VW Bus funky puzzling!

Beetle Splash

You thought I was done with VW car puzzles for this round of new puzzles?! Nope! The other new puzzle from Eurographics we have added to our catalog is Beetle Splash. It’s also a panoramic puzzle, so the dimensions are 39 x 13 inches. Prepare for a long horizontal puzzle that’s over 3 feet wide! It’s 1000 pieces and shows another iconic VW vehicle, but this time it has the Beetle!

This car has an interesting history as one of the most manufactured vehicles in the world since 1938. It’s now associated as a hippie-counterculture car decorated with flowers and peace signs which is why we see those illustrations all over this puzzle! Enjoy those intricate flowers and splashes of vibrant colors!

A Sunday on La Grand Jette

Finally, our last new puzzle joining the Completing the Puzzle catalog today is A Sunday on La Grande Jatte from Peter Pauper Press. It is a 1000 piece puzzle featuring art from Georges Seurat! Seurat is credited with developing the pointillism style you see in his painting here. Pointillism is done by painting tiny dots of color to form the final image when you take a step back and view it from a distance.

I love the static quality of this painting and would love to complete this puzzle! Seurat’s painting depicts Parisians on a beautiful Sunday afternoon spent outside, and the fashion of the late nineteenth century is my favorite part about this painting. I could stare at all the women’s monochrome and rigid dresses for so long!

Alright, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about this week’s newest puzzles! I think we gave you a good mix of fine art puzzles with abstract and pointillist paintings, as well as some funky VW Eurographics puzzles full of bright colors!

Which one would you complete first? Leave a comment letting us know!

And, as a reminder, we have many more members than copies of a specific puzzle. When it is time to pack your puzzle, one from your wishlist will be chosen first if it is available. However, if no puzzle from your wishlist is available, a puzzle will be chosen using your default level and theme preferences.

The more puzzles on your wishlist, the more likely you will be to receive one, so go add your favorites from this week’s new puzzles!

At Completing the Puzzle, we're always adding new puzzles that members can add to their wishlist. Plus, you can also specify your desired difficulty level and build a wish list of the puzzles you want to receive. When you’re done with a puzzle, simply ship it back to us and we’ll send off your next one.
