Completing the Puzzle expands their online catalog with up-and-coming brand, Unified Pieces. Unified Pieces is a black-owned business that makes art more accessible through puzzles. Each puzzle features abstract and minimalist original artwork. They aim to bring awareness to underrepresented artists with a focus on diversity. They put a lot of thought and care into the quality of their puzzles and artwork.
Unified Pieces puzzles are full of color, flare, and unique designs. It offers 500 and 1,000-piece puzzles from a diverse variety of artists. You can choose to shop their full collection or shop by artist.
This was my first experience completing a Unified Pieces puzzle. I completed their 500-piece puzzle “The Catstornaut.” The artwork for this puzzle is by Naphtali Rodriguez, an Afro-Caribbean artist. It showcases a cat astronaut in a colorful suit floating in outer space. The first thing that stood out with this brand is the large vibrant puzzle image front and center on the box. The puzzle box is as unique as the images because it uses a magnetic closure. It's nice to not have to fight to get a box lid off like with traditional puzzle boxes. The puzzle box also has details about the brand, the featured artist behind the image, and the puzzle.
Inside the box, you will find a reusable bag for the puzzle pieces, a poster of the artwork, and a cardboard poster. The included images for references are so crisp and clear. The cardboard poster of the artwork even has a built in stand so you can stand it up as you puzzle! The reusable bag is a black velvet material with a zipper closure. I love that Unified Pieces includes the puzzle pieces in the reusable bag to reduce the use of plastic. Their puzzles are plastic free, from the product to packaging.
I also love the feel of their puzzle pieces. The material is velvet soft with a matte finish and a great thickness. Unified Pieces uses both a random cut and a ribbon cut across their puzzle collection. If you want a specific cut, you can find that information in the puzzle details for each puzzle on their website.
This was a fun image to sort and build because of the vibrant colors and the purples and blues of the background. I did appreciate the ribbon-cut of the pieces for my puzzle. The pieces are so soft and soothing to rub while looking for the piece locations. The background of the artwork added challenge to the puzzle, but I still finished it in one sitting. Once I finished this puzzle, I was already craving more because it was that good! I'm looking forward to adding more Unified Pieces to my collection in the future.
Unified Pieces is such a great addition to the Completing the Puzzle catalog. They are of the best new brands I have tried, so I am glad they will be more accessible with Completing the Puzzle. I encourage current members to add a puzzle to your wishlist to see the quality for yourself. You can find the available puzzles in the online catalog.
